Attacking the BJP for pursuing a ‘communal and sectarian’ policy, the CPM said it would work out ‘appropriate tactics’ to isolate the saffron party and mobilise secular parties against communal forces.

“On its part, CPM will work out a broad-based mobilisation against communal forces. The party Congress will work out appropriate tactics to isolate BJP and prevent any opportunistic line-up for electoral gain,” party general secretary Prakash Karat said addressing the 19th Congress of the CPM in Coimbatore.

At the same time, he said the CPM would continue to fight against fundamental and extremist elements in the minority community.

Karat said whether it is terrorism, social problems or politics, the BJP viewed all the issues from the ‘communal sectarian viewpoint’.

“Cultural nationalism are only the code word for the Hindu Rashtra of the RSS,” he said, adding that the CPM has been fighting BJP politically and ideologically.

That is why RSS and the BJP marked CPM for their ire and went with their violent way, he added.
