
Assault alleged
Sector 22 resident Neeraj Kumar complained that he and his brother were physically assaulted by three persons last night. The two were beaten up over a minor dispute. The police have registered cases against three persons, Deva, Thakur and Peelu, two of whom are sector 22 residents and one is a resident of sector 35.
One held for gambling
The city police have arrested one Ajay Taneja on the charges of gambling in sector 17 lottery bazar. He was arrested under the Gambling Act.
Car stolen
A theft of car was reported to Nand Parkash Mittal who complained that it was stolen from sector 17 parking. A car stereo was stolen from Sector 33 resident Usha Garg’s car parked near sector 17 Ghazal restaurant.
Man beaten-up
Sector 40 resident Rajiv Kumar was admitted to the PGI this evening after he was reportedly badly beaten up. Sector 37 resident Krishna Devi was admitted to the PGi after her car was reportedly hit by a tractor-trolley. In another accident, Palsora colony resident Gurpal Singh was admitted to the PGI after he was injured when his scooter was reoprtedly hit by a auto-rickshaw on the road separting sectors 39 and 40.
Poisoning case
A poisoning case was reported from the PGI where Govardhan Das of Nehru colony was admitted late last night.
Woman injured
One Shanti Devi, was reportedly injured after she was hit by an unidentified scooterist near Devinagar on the Panchkula-Zirakpur highway. She has been admitted to the local hospital.
Liquor recovered
The Panchkula police have recovered 3,000 pouches of liqour from a Maruti van bearing a Haryana registration number. Police sources say that they tried to stop the van near Barwala, when its occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled. A case has been registered.
