Fake notes recovered

— A 38-year-old person was arrested for possessing 220 fake Indian currencies in the denomination of Rs 500 at Ghatkopar on Monday. The accused Basir Abdullah Rahman (38), a resident of Dongri was arrested when he arrived at Mayur Jewellers, Ghatkopar to buy ornaments. Police working on a tip-off, laid a trap near the shop at 8 pm. While Basir was entering the shop, he was arrested by the police and taken into custody. The Ghatkopar Police have registered a case against Basir and investigations are on nab Basir’s two associates.

Gunmen held

— The Detection Crime Branch, CID, has arrested two notorious shooters belonging to the Chhota Shakeel gang and recovered weapons from them. Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid trap at Metro Cafe Hotel near Dhobi Talao on February 7. Two accused Krishna T Shetty and Mohamed Iqbal Mansuri were taken into custody when they arrived there. One star mark pistol with two magazines and eleven live cartridges of .30 bore wererecovered from them. According to police sources Shetty is at large since 1994 and is also involved in several murder cases.

3 bar girls looted

— Three girls employed as dancers in bars were kidnapped and robbed of Rs 1,200 when they were returning to their home at Ghatkopar. According to the police, the dancers employed in Kaveri Hotel, Devi Dayal Road Mulund (East) were returning home after work at 1 am. Four men in a Maruti car intercepted the dancers, dragged them into the car. They robbed them of their money and later fled.
