Absconding murderer held
Gandhinagar police on Saturday arrested Mahobbatji Amraji Devda from Bhavnagar in connection with the murder of a 10-year-old girl in village Sardhav in the Capital. Police said Rekha Bharatji Shankarji Thakore had gone to her field on October 16 to bring chains for her buffaloes but was found dead in a nearby field the following day. In his complaint, grandfather Shankar Sursang Devda had named Mahobbatji the main accused. Later, Mahobbat was reported missing and police declared him abscondeder. Recently, police learnt that Mahobbat was staying at his uncle Bhupenrasinh Mahida’s house in village Mahua of Bhavnagar district and sending letters to his house in Gandhinagar. A police team reached Mahua and nabbed him.

Three cops in ACB trap
Anti-Corruption Bureau trapped a head constable of Shamlaji police station in Sabarkantha district, and a head constable and a constable of C division police station in Bhavnagar district, for allegedly accepting bribes. ACB said head constable Raman Ratnaji Patel had demanded money from Indrakumar Joshi and his brother who ran passenger jeeps in the town. Raman had been slapping fines on them for alleged traffic violations and had threatened them with dire consequences if they did not pay up. The duo alerted ACB and a trap was laid. Similarly, on a tip-off that some policemen were extorting money from truckers and others passing through Dasa, Randhola, Umrala, Vallabhipur, Keriana Dhal, a team of ACB, Rajkot laid a trap and arrested constable Hardevsinh Renubha of C division police station and Bachu Valjibhai Gohil, an unarmed head constable of traffic branch, Bhavnagar, taking money from a truck driver.

Burgled
Shantaben Kalidas Patel lodged a complaint with Ellisbridge police on Saturday that Rs 3,000, jewellery and clothes, collectively worth Rs 23,000, were stolen from her house in Swati Apartment at Nehrunagar between November 7 and 14 when the family was away. Similarly, burglars made away with goods worth Rs 21,000 from Nitin Bansilal Chowksi’s house at Manekbaug Society in Ambawadi.
