Burglary foiled
Five armed miscreants, in their early 20s, made an unsuccessful bid to lootthe driver of a truck (MP 27 D 6178) and stabbed its cleaner, LokeshwarYadav, when he tried to overpower one of burglars near the Golden Chowkadion Tuesday night. According to the police, Lokeshwar and driver Deen DayalSingh Beju Singh Yadav were sleeping in their truck, opposite SupremeRoadline office — where they had come after loading steel goods atAhmedabad — when the five accused tried to open the window of driver’scabin around midnight. But the cleaner woke up and even overpowered one ofthe miscreants, when another stabbed him in his stomach. The accused thenfled. Yadav is undergoing treatment in SSG Hospital.

Pusher held
The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested one Rama Ichcha Chauhan from theChhani Bus Stand on Wednesday and recovered 200 gms of ganja and 85 gms ofcharas from his possession. According to the Chhani police, where a caseunder provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances has beenregistered, the NCB arrested the drug-peddler on a tip off by a localinformer. The peddler is a resident of Swaminanarayan Phalia in Chhanivillage.

Case registered
One Ashiq Hussein Sher Mohammed Rangrej, the manager of the SuleimaniCooperative Bank Limited in Nagarwada, lodged a case of cheating against theproprietor of a city-based trading company. According to the FIR lodged inthe Karelibaug Police Station, the accused opened an account in the name ofhis company recently and deposited a demand draft issued by a nationalisedbank’s branch in ITI Township in Rai Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. However, theRai Bareilly bank informed the Suleimani bank that the draft was a stolenone and refused to clear it. The police are looking for the accused.

Valuables stolen
Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 10,000 were stolen from house no 3 inAnand Nagar Society, near Karelibaug Overhead water tank on Tuesday.According to the Karelibaug police, miscreants entered the house by openingthe lock on the main door, broke open the steel box and committed the theft.Investigations are on.
