
Three thefts
In separate cases of thefts reported in the city during the last 24 hours, cash and valuables worth Rs 52,500 were reported stolen from three different places in the city. According to the police, cash of Rs 40,000 was stolen from the Gaurav Industries and Rs 4,500 was stolen from the Tilak Show Prints, opposite Yamuna Mill, under the Panigate Police Station. In another case, cash and ornaments worth Rs 8,000 were stolen from a house in Surya Darshan Township in Manjelpur under the Makarpura Police Station. According to police, the incident occurred around 2.30 pm on Sunday when the occupants of the house had gone for marketing.
Body recovered
A decomposed body of an unidentified person was recovered from the Sursagar lake adjoining the offices of the Fire Brigade on Sunday afternoon. The body has been shifted to the SSG Hospital for an autopsy.
Minor fire
A minor fire broke out in the office of Ircon International Pvt Ltd located in the Akashdeep Society, behind Akashvani offices, on Makarpura Road, on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the fire, according to Fire Brigade sources, was an electric short circuit. The amount of loss could not be ascertained immediately.
