
CHANDIGARH, May 12: Criminals are victims of circumstances and need to be treated with sympathy. The observation was made by Justice V.K. Bali of Punjab and Haryana High Court today.
Justice Bali was speaking on the concluding day of training course on Human Rights and Prison Management at Institute of Correctional Administration here. He asserted that efforts need to made to bring the convicts back into the mainstream.
Justice Iqbal Singh also spoke on the occasion. He asserted that employment opportunities should be provided to the ex-prisoners. He also stressed upon proper training for the officers.
Meanwhile, in a press release, deputy director of the institute, Dr. Upneet Lalli stated that 80 prison officers including deputy inspector generals, superintendents and assistant superintendents from all over the region attended the three-day course.
