MUMBAI, Oct 1: A late equaliser in the second-half saw Central Railway Mumbai Division (CRMD) hold TATA Electric to a 1-1 draw in the Harwood League match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at the St Xavier’s Ground, Parel, today.

Fresh from their recent victorious stint at the Central Railways’ Inter-Division Championship, the Railway team faced an Electric scare before sharing a point with their opponents.

An upset seemed on the cards when TATA Electric took the lead in the 20th minute of the second-half. CT Fernandes brought

the ball dangerously near the post before passing it across to the right. Sustitute Phillip Noronha managed to collect it and pass it to the centre. Goalkeeper Anthony D’Souza made a full-blooded dive forward but failed to collect it. The error proved fatal as striker Kalyan Sarkar made a quick dash to pump the ball in.

The goal shook up the CRMD pack which, till then, dominated the play. From an easy victory over the TATA team, they were now looking forward to draw it. This they managed to do through centre-half Anil Pardeshi who came up with the equaliser minutes before the final whistle and managed to keep their no-loss record intact. They now have 11 points from five matches to TATA Electric’s 10 from 10 matches.

Earlier in the day, Don Bosco Oratory (A) beat BPT Reynolds Colony 3-1 in a Division I league match for the MDFA’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Trophy. Ganesh Singh, Suresh Palsankar and Lancer Mendonsa scored a goal each for the winners. Ajaz Ansari netted the lone goal for Reynolds Colony.
