SIX persons, including five jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were injured, one of them seriously, when suspected ULFA militants blew up their vehicle in an ambush in Dhemaji district in Upper Assam today.
This is the first incident of violence caused by the ULFA since it withdrew its boycott of the 33rd National Games on February 5. The rebels have been lying low since the Games boycott withdrawal, but have not stopped blaming the Government for the peace negotiations with the ULFA-nominated People’s Consultative Group remaining suspended for over five months now.
Police said suspected ULFA militants caused an IED explosion and hit a CRPF vehicle at village Joraghat under Machkhowa police station in Dhemaji district around 1.30 pm, which left all the six occupants of the vehicle injured.
