CHANDIGARH, Jan 25: Children from various local government schools today presented a colourful cultural programme on the eve of Republic Day at the Tagore Theatre. Presiding over the function, Adviser to UT Administrator Jagdish Sagar said through their cultural programmes, children have depicted the high moral values of our Constitution, including the role of freedom fighters in getting freedom for the nation. The Adviser also announced a grant of Rs 31,000 for the children.

The programme started with a song "Maa tujhe salaam" presented by students of GMSSS-19. Later, two group dances from Rajasthan and Haryana were presented by students of GMSSS-40 and GGSSS-23, while patriotic songs were presented by the GGSSS-8 and 18.

A skit titled "talli boldi hai" presented by GMSSS-46 depicted the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom struggle, besides also presenting events connected with the Independence.
