Curfew in Kashmir Valley to be relaxed in phased manner

The Jammu and Kashmir administration reviewed the Valley's security situation and decided to relax curfew in a phased manner.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday reviewed the Valley’s security situation and decided to relax curfew in a phased manner, a move that will provide much-needed relief to the people who have been under restrictions for the past three days.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Governor N N Vohra in Srinagar, an official spokesman said.

Curfew will be relaxed for ‘few’ hours in a phased manner across the Valley from Wednesday.

Sources, however, said the relaxation would be extended if the notified periods pass off peacefully.

The administration asked the traders and businessmen to keep their establishments open during the relaxation period so that the people can buy the necessary items.

On the shortage of milk in the city, the state cooperative and a private milk distribution company have been asked to deliver the stocks to the outlets on priority basis.

The administration would provide necessary logistics to the milk distribution companies to facilitate their movement even in the areas under curfew.

The state administration also took note of the problems faced by patients and attendants in the hospitals of the Valley.

The divisional and district administration has been directed to make necessary arrangements for facilitating return to homes of the discharged patients and their attendants.
