NEW DELHI, MAY 14: Congress Working Committee is meeting here tomorrow to discuss seat adjustments with like-minded parties in some States, including Tamil Nadu, as also to finalise party candidates for the June 4 Assembly polls in Goa.
Senior leader Sharad Pawar, who had held talks with AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha on the issue of an alliance between the two parties, is expected to apprise the CWC about the negotiations.
The CWC meeting, the first formal one after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, would also take stock of the party affairs at a National level and prepare an electoral strategy for the coming polls, party sources said.
Pawar told reporters yesterday that the meeting might take a view on various State-level tie-ups with like-minded parties.
The party has given enough indications that it was against entering into alliances at the State level and instead would favour seat adjustments with like-minded parties wherever it felt that the party alone was not strong enough to take on communaland sectarian forces.
Maintaining that the people were “fed up” with coalition politics, the party said it wanted to stand on its own feet and if necessary would enter into tie-ups in some States to counter the communal forces.
