CHANDIGARH, March 10: The All India Inter College Cultural Festival of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology – Cyanide 99 – began this evening with a ghazal concert by Arjun Jaipuri.

The concert was preceded by a talk on AIDS awareness by experts from the PGI, in keeping with the theme of the festival Know AIDS for No AIDS’.

The concert was attended by a gathering comprising largely of students. Jaipuri doled out ghazals one after the other which were well received by some. He, however, failed to make a strong impact even though he attempted to imitate popular ghazal singers like Ghulam Ali. UT Deputy Commissioner R. K. Rao was the chief guest at the function.
