
CHANDIGARH, Jan 4: An unidentified cyclist was killed and four persons injured in separate road accidents in the city while a child was run over by a tractor-trolley in Bhogpur village, near Panchkula, during the past 24 hours.
An unidentified cyclist was reportedly hit by a bus near the Poultry Farm roundabout around 8 p.m. yesterday. The cyclist was rushed to the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital, where he died, police said.
Till this evening, the police had no clue about the bus or the bus driver who allegedly knocked the cyclist down.
The Panchkula police said a child, Gagan, was killed after being run over by a tractor-trolley when its driver, Nizam Khan, was reversing the vehicle in Bhogpur. A case has been registered.
In a separate accident, cyclist Raju was reportedly hit by a scooter near the Tribune roundabout. Raju is a resident of Colony number 4 in Industrial Area.
Sector 27 resident Vasudev, who was riding a cycle, was reportedly hit by a Fiat car near Durga Nursery. In an accident between a moped and scooter in Sector 37, moped rider Kanu Priya, a Sector 39 resident, was injured. All three injured cyclists have been admitted to PGI.
In yet another accident in Industrial Area, scooterist Ved Parkash, a resident of Sector 30, was injured and admitted to the Sector 32 GMCH after being hit by a motorcycle. The motorcyclist fled the spot, police said.
