
Naya Nangal Red Cross donates Rs 1.91 lakh to Army Fund
ROOPNAGAR: Expressing their solidarity with the families of the martyrs of Kargil action, Naya Nangal Red Cross and Hospital Welfare Association has presented a draft of Rs 1.91 lakh for the Army Fund. The Association with Savita Ratolia as its patron, is a group of National Fertilizers Ltd. Officers Wives Association and raised the amount through donations. The draft was handed over to the district Red Cross here this morning, according to the NFL spokesman.
Class III staff donate one day’s salary
PATIALA: The class three employees (non-clerical ) of Union of Punjab languages department have decided to donate their one day’s salary to the Punjab War Heroes Family Relief Fund to help the families of the martyrs. According to Devinder Singh, PABLA propaganda secretary of the Union, the decision had been taken during a meeting of the Union held under the presidentship of Kesar Singh. The Union also paid respects to the war heroes and a two-minute silence was observed.
Demand to scrap reservation policy
ROOPNAGAR: Irate members of the General Category Welfare Federation of Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant have demanded scrapping of the caste based reservation policy by January 26, 2000. In a statement issued to the press, Satnam Singh Dhani claimed that over 100 engineers of the plant attended a meeting of the anti-reservation groups, where the participants resolved to put forward their demand for abolition of reservation by the year 2000.
