PUNE, Jan 4: The State Government has chalked out an ambitious proposal to initiate a unique scheme for the educated unemployed in the dairy industry sector. The scheme envisages providing proper cattle-sheds, cattle and the necessary finance to veterinary graduates by utilising existing government land.
This was declared by Dairy Development Minister Narayan Rane here today. Rane was speaking after releasing the special issue on the dairy industry at a function organised by Atharva Associates on “Dairy industry in Maharashtra: Future directions and opportunities.”
A proposal to this effect has been placed before the State Government, he said, adding that the scheme had been initiated by the saffron alliance government to encourage dairy industry in the State.
Lamenting that dairy farming so far was treated as a supplementary business, he revealed that more often political decisions dictated the state of the industry.
