BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya today said the board was trying its “level best” to arrange for live telecast of the India-Australia series, while blaming both ESPN-STAR Sports and Zee Telefilms for creating an impasse which forced the board to cancel the entire tendering process.

The two parties are fighting a corporate war pushing us to the wall. Since they placed their commercial interests at a higher pedestal than the game and public interest, the board decided to cancel the tendering process. We were now trying our level best to arrange for live telecast of the India-Australia series which begins in Bangalore from October 6

ZEE hits back at BCCI, ESS

Zee Telefilms dared ESPN-STAR Sports to proceed with their threatened legal action, saying that the Subhash Chandra-controlled company had enough proof of a nexus between BCCI and ESS.

If they go to court we will provide enough input in the court proving a nexus between BCCI and ESS.

Gibbs, Boje may miss Indian tour
DURBAN: Several South African players, including Herschelle Gibbs and Nicky Boje, may not join the team during their tour of sub-continent in November for fear of being arrested and questioned by Indian police about match-fixing. Gibbs and Boje were implicated with the late Hansie Cronje when the South African team toured India in 2000. Gibbs was suspended for six months.

Ponting out of first Test
LONDON: Australia captain Ricky Ponting will miss at least the first Test against India after fracturing his left thumb in the Champions Trophy, Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday. Ponting sustained the injury on Tuesday during the semi-final defeat against England at Edgbaston. The first Test begins in Bangalore on October 6.
