Describing the Andhra Pradesh government’s move to open talks with Naxals as ‘‘retrograde and self-defeating,’’ BJP president L K Advani today said the Centre must intervene in the interest of the nation.‘‘It’s a threat to national security with Naxals being allowed to move around with weapons,’’ Advani told reporters here.He said Naxalism was a national issue and one state holding talks without insisting that Naxals should lay down arms was a self-defeating exercise. He demanded that the Centre intervene and put things in the right perspective.‘‘The issue can be solved only through a dialogue involving all states affected by Naxalism,’’ Advani said after inaugurating the BJP state office here.Taking a swipe at the Congress-TRS electoral alliance, the BJP president said it was not in the true spirit of the aspirations of the people of the region.‘‘We formed three states only after there was a consensus among the NDA partners but in case of Telangana, the situation is otherwise,’’ Advani said.
