PUNE, Sept 22: After being runners-up for four years, Dastur under-17 eves finally claimed the crown in the Multi Games Sports Council basketball tournament at their court here today.

In the final encounter they made their opponents, Shikshan Prasarak Mandal look mere spectators as they registered a convincing 25-3 verdict.

Incidentally it was a sweet revenge as they finished behind them in the last edition of the championship.

With this win, Dastur cagers completed a double in this tournament. Earlier their under-14 team had won the title yesterday.

There was nothing that could stop the Dastur eves’ surge as they outplayed the rivals on all counts. Rashmi Ranmalkar, Tulsi Ranganathan and Maichin Sharma were the wreckers-in-chief for the SPM girls.

If at all there was some sign of a fight back by the SPM girls it was in the first five minutes of play as they managed to score just three points. But thereafter it was Dastur’s ruling the roost as their rivals failed to find the basket even once. Radha Lokhare fought a lone battle for SPM.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Sardur Dastur won a cliff hanger against Abhinav 16-13 while SPM defeated St Joseph’s Pashan 20-16.
