CHANDIGARH, Dec 15:Hosts DAV Senior Secondary School-8 began their campaign in style scoring a 2-0 victory over Laxman Public School, New Delhi, in the opening match of the first Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) North East Zone football tournament which began at the DAV School-8, here today.DAV-8 opened their account in the 10th minute when Ravinder’s close range shot went past the rival keeper (1-0). Sanjeev consolidated the lead in the 25th minute (2-0).
In the second match of the day, local SD-32 played a 1-1 draw with Bokaro Ispat Vidyalaya, Bokaro.
Bokaro lads shot into the lead in the 16th minute through Rupesh Kumar. However, their joy was short-lived as ten minutes later Sandeep levelled the score at 1-1.
In the last match of the day, Himalaya Public School, Karnal scored a comfortable 6-2 victory over SGTB, Amritsar.
Lava Umbrey netted in three goals (not hat-trick), Vicky Gurung, Ronald Dijoe and Vijay Malik scored one each for the winners.
Tasbir Singh and Rajvinder Singh got one each for Amritsar.The participating teams are: DAV School-8, Chandigarh, SD School-32, Chandigarh, Laxman Public School, New Delhi, St Amtul’s Public School, Nainital, Bokaro Ispat Vidyalaya, Bokaro, Dashmesh Public School, Faridkot, Himalaya Public School, Karnal, SGTB, Amritsar, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi and Translam Academy, Meerut.
