PATIALA, Jan 8: The Patiala District Congress Committee (urban), today, recommended to the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee that Brahm Mohindra be immediately suspended from the primary membership of the party and his case be forwarded to the All India Congress Committee for immediate expulsion from the party.

In an emergency meeting here today, the committee under the presidentship of Ved Parkash Gupta, where Pradesh Congress Committee organising secretary, Sanjeev Garg, was also present, passed a unanimous resolution in this regard.

Strongly condemning the statement of Brahm Mohindra, the committee said that by issuing the statement, Mohindra had tried to create a wedge between Hindus and Sikhs, forgetting the sacrifices made by Congressmen, who had laid down their lives to bring peace in Punjab.

The committee also said that Brahm Mohindra had stated that the Congress was working as an extension counter of the Shiromani Akali Dal, while adding that by giving vent to his frustration through such a statement, he had tried to create dissent among party workers. This proved to be a futile exercise, as is clear from mass resentment amongst leaders and workers against Brahm Mohindra, the committee said.
