July 30: Following an intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, controversial Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vasant Ingle has withdrawn his resignation.

“Since, I have been assured that my complaints will be dealt with by appropriate authorities, I withdrew my application for voluntary retirement,” Ingle told the Express Newsline. Ingle, who was unceremoniously shifted to Nagpur as Commandant, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), was today posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch). Ingle had sought voluntary retirement, following death of 10 dalits in police firing at Ghatkopar on July 11.
