NEW DELHI, March 7: China’s Qin Yang surprised herself and the audience with probably the worst tennis she has played in the last two weeks even as her countrywoman Ding Ding cashed in to pull off a 6-1, 7-5 win in the final of the $ 10,000 Central Bank ITF tournament at the Delhi Tennis Association courts on Saturday.

After wrapping up the singles title and five WTA points in under two hours, Ding Ding returned with partner Ting Li to pocket the doubles trophy, taking apart Qin Yang and Motoe Uchida 6-3, 6-2.After the disappointing first set, Qin set off visions of a comeback when she levelled 3-all after trailing 1-3 in the second set.

Despite the patchy tennis, the contest warmed up and simmered till 5-all after which Ding Ding closed it out with considerable help from Qin who did well to save three match points earlier at 4-5.

RESULTS (ALL FINALS)

Ding Ding (Chn) bt Qin Yang (Chn) 6-1, 7-5, Doubles: Ding Ding/Ting Li (Chn) bt Qin Yang (Chn)/Uchida Motoe (Jpn) 6-3, 6-2.
