The Delhi High Court on Monday, while admitting the enhancement of sentence of all the four convicts in the Parliament attack case, dismissed the bail plea of the lone woman convict Afsan Guru alias Navjot Sandhu.

Afsan had been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment while three others were sentenced to death.

Afsan’s advocate said there was no evidence to prove the charge of conspiracy against her. Even the her husband Shaukat Hussain Guru’s confessional statement, stating that Afsan was aware of the conspiracy, was inadmissible under the Evidence Act. Her counsel also said Afsan was diagnosed with acute psychosis.

The bench directed the jail authorities to provide her medical facilities. Dismissing her bail plea the court said as state had filed an appeal against her acquittal under several sections of the IPC, POTA and Explosive Substance Act, she could not be granted bail.
