CHENNAI, July 27: Census of spotted deer at the Guindy National Park (GNP) revealed a migration of about a hundred spotted deer from GNP to the IIT campus area, following the opening of the gates between the two campuses in February, according to Wildlife Warden, Mita Banerjee. This was intended to create a new genetic pool through mingling of population from both sides, and to reduce the competition to black bucks, she said. Other species that migrated to the IIT campus include monitor lizards, mongooses, green whip snakes and few birds.
