NEW DELHI, December 6: Delhi Zone won the team events championship trophy by collecting 21 points in the 16th Punjab National Bank inter-zone sports meet here today. The runners-up trophy was won by Punjab Zone with 19 points.

In athletic events, Punjab Zone showed supermacy by lifting the champoinship trophy. Northern Zone finished second. In cricket, last year s champions Delhi Zone defeated Punjab by seven wickets. Batting first, Punjab Zone scored 153 for seven. Delhi’s skipper Neeraj Sharma hit three towaring sixes and seven fours in his 67 to guide his team to victory.

In football, Delhi Zone defeated Punjab Zone 4-0 in the final. Permod Rawat scored three goals for the winners and Govind Kanaujia scored the other goal.

In badminton (men) team events, Delhi Zone defeated Punjab Zone 3-0. In the individuals events, Deepak Sharma of East UP Zone defeated Sudhakar Sharma of Delhi Zone 15-5, 15-10. In the women’s section, Arti Matoo of Delhi Zone defeated Anjali Sharma of Delhi Zone 15-9, 15-8.

In kho-kho , Northern Zone defeated Western by of two points. Sushil Kumar Sinha of Bihar Zone won the first position in chess followed by Akshay Saxena of Central UP.
