NEW DELHI, January 24: Municipal Commissioner of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner V.K. Duggal has issued instructions to the deputy commissioners in all zones in the city after Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor said all encroachment on government land must be removed within two months.Six private tennis courts, six tennis rooms, three gaurd houses and a pump house spread over an area of 1.88 acres and valued at Rs 8 crore have been removed from a Vasant Vihar plot. The land had earlier been earmarked for a park. But since the park was not developed and the land remained unused for a long time, it was soon taken over by encroachers. The LG's order had said that if these encroachments were not removed in the stipulated period, the civic agencies concerned would have to face action. Kapoor had asked the civic agencies to ``update registers of property'' and that they should ``ensure that their lands remain free from encroachment or unauthorised occupation through physical inspections.''Besides Vasant Vihar, several areas in Shahdra, Kondli Subzi Mandi and Gharoli Road were made free from encroachment. And 32 permanent structures, 120 semi-pucca structures and 40 tin sheds were reportedly demolished in keeping with the order. Encroachments were also removed from NH-10, Nangloi Chowk, Najafgarh Road and Peeraghari Outer Road. Twenty-five trucks of construction material was also removed from pavements and roads in West Patel Nagar, Faridpuri and East Patel Nagar.
