It is now official. The Delhi Golf Club has been named as the venue for the Indian Masters golf tournament — the inaugural European Tour event to be held in the country early next year — as reported first by The Indian Express.

A delegation from the organisers ‘golf in DUBAI’, headed by vice-chairman and CEO Mohamed Juma Buamaim, had visited the course last month and subsequently held discussions with officials here in the Capital. The $2.5 million event will be held from February 7-10.

Announcing the decision, Buamaim said: “We are delighted to

announce Delhi Golf Club as the venue of the forthcoming Indian Masters.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better venue than the DGC, which stands in perfect harmony with the old and the new, like the historic city itself.”

The management of the Delhi Golf Club also expressed happiness at the opportunity and Ranji Chaudhri, the Club captain said: “The tournament is the biggest thing that has happened to Indian golf and we will spare no effort in making it a huge success.”

The Tour event will be the richest golf tournament ever to be held in India, where top golfers from India and EPGA are expected to participate.
