Dhyan Chand Club in final

After trailing by one goal, the Green House combined well to emerge victorious. Sonia scored the first goal for the Black House. But the joy was shortlived as Mandeep scored parity just before the lemon break.

Few minutes into the second session, Black House consolidated the lead through Narinder (2-1). But Shuaib’s deft stick work enable the team to gain the upper hand. He tore the rival defence apart, scoring a hat-trick and giving his team vital lead (4-2). In the dying moments of the game Chandan scored the fifth goal for the team (5-2).

In the junior section, there was a close contest between NS Sodhi Club and Saurav Club to gain a berth into the final. Both the teams were equally good but Saurav Club delivered the goods at the right juncture and posted 8-6 victory over NS Sodhi Club, to keep alive their hopes of winning the title.

For NS Sodhi Club, it was their first defeat of the meet. The team had given an excellent display in the league stage but failed to put a brave front in the semifinal match today.

Nishi struck four goals (not hat-trick) while Sukhdeep and Akhilesh scored two goals each for Saurav Club.

Charanjeet scored five goals including a hat-trick and Jyoti got one for the losers.

In the second semifinal, Siddharth scored a hat-trick in Dhyan Chand Club’s 9-4 win over Sarbjeet Club. The eventual winner led 3-1 at the break.

Siddharth and Kulbir scored three goals each while Mamta, Pooja and Neha struck one each for Dhyan Chand Club.

Prashant and Gurtej got two goals each for the losers.

The final will be played at 5 p.m.tomorrow.
