Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Praveen Togadia said here today that the VHP, far from ending its crusade with the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, would struggle for the ‘‘liberation’’ of the the Krishnajanmasthan at Mathura and the Kashi Vishwanath temple at Varanasi.Togadia said the VHP had only sought three temples out of some 30,000 which were demolished or occupied by Muslims. It was for the Muslims of the country to decide whether they wanted ‘‘the goodwill of Hindus by respecting their sentiments or preferred pursuing a path of confrontation.’’Asked about the Bhojshala at Dhar, Togadia said they had left the issue to the local Hindu community.The VHP leader called for the enactment of a legislation to pave the way for the construction of a Ram temple, pointing out that the Centre had done so to overturn the Supreme Court verdict twice, once to uphold the Shariat in the Shahbano case, and to accord a minority institution status to Aligarh University.Regarding excavation, Togadia said the VHP was not opposed to the move if it helped the court reach a conclusion. They had opposed a similar move earlier because it involved the shifting of Ramlalla idol.Regarding the shifting of the idol at the time of the demolition of the disputed structure, it could be done in case of a natural calamity like an earthquake or an ‘‘accident like the demolition,’’ he said.The week-long Parishad satyagraha on the temple issue would begin from Jantar Mantar on March 27. ‘‘We would enlist one crore Ramsevaks for the purpose,’’ he added. Asked if the move was aimed at polarising people prior to the Assembly polls, Togadia said the agitation will achieve its purpose before the elections.
