Mumbai, Sept 15: Defending champions Dimbula Athletic and Cricket Club, Sri Lanka will clash with hosts Bombay Gymkhana in the final of The Famous Grouse All India and South Asia and Rugby Tournament.In the semi-finals at the Bombay Gymkhana today, the hosts proved just too powerful for the Armenians, rendering this much-fancied clash into a no-contest. Bombay Gymkhana won by the whopping margin of 41-9 after leading 17-6 at half-time. Earlier, Dimbula booked their place in the final with a hard-fought 27-18 victory over Calcutta Cricket and Football Club. Beginning in whirlwind fashion, the Islanders led 20-0, and the match seemed to be heading towards a veritable rout, before the Calcuttans managed to get their act together.A try by Raymond Jeejeebhoy, two penalties and a conversion by Nikhlesh Jhingan and a penalty by Herman Balsara saw the team from Calcutta garner 18 points and raise visions of a upset. But, with time not on their side, Dimbula managed to stave off further damage.The long hoursof practice seemed to have paid off for the hosts, and their precise manouvres failed to evoke much of a response from the youthful Armenians. However, things were tight in the initial stages with the Armenians managing to remain within striking distance. The score at half-time was 17-6 in favour of the hosts. However, an even more powerful performance in the second session saw Bombay Gymkhana garner 24 points, leaving the Armenians gasping in their wake as they could add just three points to their tally.Muffy Indorewala, 3/4th winger got two tries for Bombay Gymkhana, while Kunal Bhansali chipped in with two conversions. Flanker Nasser Hussain scored one try and also converted one. Besides these, tries were scored by Graham Lappin, Stuart Crighton, Homi Adajania and Rajeev Sathe.For Armenians, Emil Vartazarian, who converted three penalties, scored all the points.
