Guess what DMK chief M. Karunanidhi is up to these days? Playing interviewer and interviewee.
In the latest issue of party mouthpiece Murasoli, which appeared in the daily Dina Malar, he is back to baiting Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa, accusing her of going too far in probes into Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati’s alleged involvement in Sankararaman’s murder. He slams her for committing excesses in the name of inquiry and says she was privy to all that preceded the seer’s arrest.
But of course, the bashing is not in the form of an editorial or article — it is the old polemic in question-answer style, questions put in an unknown speaker’s mouth.
BJP state unit leader L. Ganesan said Jayalalithaa knew about the background leading to the seer’s arrest
‘‘The arrest has taken place because she knew everything. And Ganesan (the reference is to Lord Ganesha) seems to know the details.’’
Tirunavukkarasar (former minister in NDA government) has expressed concern at some reports maligning and linking the seer to women
‘‘In her eagerness (read Jayalalithaa) to add glamour to a murder case, women are being maligned. Investigators should know is anything in excess is bad. Too much of even nectar is poison.’’
On L. Ganesan’s comment that when the DMK chief was arrested, Vajpayee government intervened and expedited his release…?
‘‘If that were true, why didn’t government do anything when Vaiko was put behind bars? Government did not do anything then. The DMK chief appears to be saying the Centre had nothing to do with his release either. He defends UPA saying it has nothing to do with the seer’s arrest.
