CHENNAI, January 7: The uncertainty over the fate of the DMK-TMC alliance came to an end on Wednesday with TMC president G K Moopanar holding talks with Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters in the city.
The mood in the two party offices was euphoric after their leaders, at separate press conferences, announced that the alliance continued. After the hour-long meeting, Moopanar declared at the TMC headquarters, "Karunanidhi is the leader of our front. We will accept what he decides. We will win all the 40 seats, including Pondicherry, this time."
Earlier, Karunanidhi told waiting mediapersons, "the successful alliance continues, and today’s meeting has dispelled all imaginary doubts in a section of the media."
Talks on seat-sharing between the alliance partners, constituencies and the candidates would continue, Karunanidhi said and added that any change required would be made after talks with the alliance partners.
On whether a "broad agreement" on seatsharing had been worked out, the DMK president quipped, "we have always had a broad agreement and never a fraud agreement." The Chief Minister said that he would campaign jointly with the TMC president.
