With Syed Kirmani replacing Brijesh Patel as the chairman of national selectors there are fears that there might be a serious difference of opinion within the panel on Rahul Dravid’s role in the team. Kirmani just hours after being named the chairman said, ‘‘I am looking forward to finding a specialist wicketkeeper who can contribute with the bat as well. This is my primary aim,’’ he said. This was quite different to the view held by Kiran More, the other former Test ’keeper in selection committee. More has repeatedly insisted that ‘‘keeping in mind the composition of the team, Rahul has

to be the keeper.’’

The upcoming selection committee meeting to decide the teams for the upcoming series will decide who has his way. But for the present Kirmani is happy to get an opportunity to serve Indian cricket.
