Medicines worth over Rs 13,000 are missing from the Shillong Civil Hospital. These medicines were meant for free distribution to the public during the recently concluded three-day Health Mela here.

Under health schemes, the Union Government had sponsored medicines worth Rs 10 lakhs to be distributed during the mela. The Shillong Civil Hospital, the venue for the mela, also got a facelift. There were thirty-four stalls for the public and doctors gave free medical check-ups.

Civil Hospital Surgeon Superintendent P.K. Barua has lodged a complaint with the Laban police station.
