PANCHKULA, May 26: The district police have booked certain property dealers and land owners for allegedly selling agricultural land in Kalka and Pinjore for residential, commercial and industrial purposes, in "violation" of the Haryana Development and Urban Area Act, 1975.

Complaints have been lodged against 33 violators at the Kalka and Pinjore police stations. Among the alleged violators is a Manimajra-based agro forestry company, which has been accused of illegal construction on such illegally bought land. The complaint in the matter was registered by the District Town Planner.

It may be noted here that according to the Haryana Development and Urban Area Act, 1975, before allotting the land for use in residential, commercial and residential purposes, it is mandatory to seek permission from the Muncipal Committee authorities.

In this case, most "violations" are on the Nalagarh road and the state government has not yet regularised the unauthorised buildings in Kalka and Pinjore. It is proposed that around 3,000 buildings will be regularised by the government after amendment in the Punjab New Capital Periphery Control Act, 1952.
