NEW DELHI, December 30: The power system in Delhi will collapse within six months if the state government fails to undertake emergency measures to improve transmission and distribution, Union Power Minister R. Kumaramangalam told newspersons last night. “Delhi’s peak demand by June is estimated at 2700 MW and Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) is capable of taking a load of only 2,000 MW. Unless a capital infusion of Rs 1,000 crore is made immediately to improve the system, it will collapse and there could be power riots," he added.
"Although I have told Delhi Chief Minister about the whole situation, I shall be writing to her formally to put on record my apprehensions," he said.
