
MANCHESTER, May 3: India suffered yet another loss when Poulami Ghatak was ousted by Andrea Holt of England in straight games in the women’s singles event at the World Table Tennis Championships.
Ghatak, playing in the third quarter of the draw, put up some resistance in the initial stages against Holt but eventually bowed out 14-21, 18-21, 9-21 to join the growing list of first round casualties.Yesterday, National women’s champion MS Mythili had gone down tamely to Jing Jung Hong of Singapore 15-21, 14-21, 7-21 while the two doubles pairs had handed walkover victories to their respective opponents.
