CHANDIGARH, Nov 20: Chandigarh lad Anand started his campaign in the Light fly-weight category (upto 48 kg) of the sixth all-India Invitation A K Mishra Memorial boxing championships with a win over his rival here at the Sector 10 Skating Rink.

Anand beat Rajesh Kumar (Pepsu) on points at 5-0.

Bouts in only two categories were held on the opening day. Besides Anand, also advancing to the next round in the Light fly-weight category were Jagjit Singh, Parminder Sharma and Sanjeev Chauhan.

SPS-41 win
Shivalik Public School-41 beat Coaching Centre Sector-17 by two goals to nil in the ongoing Chandigarh Junior football league (under-19) for Deepak Kapania Memorial Trophy held at Sector 17 Football Stadium here today.

Neeraj Malik was the star performer of the win today, scoring both the goals, either way of the half-time. In another match SD School-32 defeated Shishu Niketan School-22, 6-0. Satinder, Ankur Chopra and Jaideep shot two goals each for the winners.

Coaching Centre-21 scored a lone-goal victory over St Xavier School-44. The match-winner was scored by Jatinder Pal in the dying moments of the game.

Govt Senior Secondary School-15 beat Sanjay Public School-44, 2-1. Arvind Rana score for SPS-44 while Atul and Dheeraj Hooda shot one each for the eventual winners.

Sports meet held
Apart from athletic events, competitions were held in volleyball, kabaddi, and kho-kho in the Inter-School annual sports meet of Gain Jyoti Public School and Nav Jyoti Model School at SAS Nagar today.

The winners of the meet were given prizes.
