CHANDIGARH, Jan 25: Good unbeaten knocks by opener Abhishek (64) and Santosh (45) helped West Zone score a comfortable nine-wicket victory over South Zone in the XXIX Food Corporation of India Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament at the PCA Stadium in SAS Nagar, near here today.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, South Zone were bowled out for 110. K Ravi topscored with 43 runs. Arvinda Shah and Sesjadri contributed 13 and 10 runs. Siddhartha Parob (3-29) and Rohan Solvi (2 for 22) were the main wicket-takers for West Zone.

In reply, West Zone had a bad start as their opener Rohan was out without scoring any run. However, Abhishek and Santosh achieved the target without being separated as West scored 114 for 1.

Scores: South Zone: 110 (K Ravi 43, Siddharatha Parob 3 for 29, Rohan Solvi 2 for 22). West Zone: 114 for 1 (Abhisheek 64, Santosh 45).

At the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Headquarters defeated North East Zone by eight wickets.

Bal Krishan (3 for 32) and S Chopra (4 for 30) destroyed North East Zone who were bundled out for 151. D Roy (40), R M Gohain (28), Jagjit Singh (28) and Dhrubaj Singh (28) were the principal scorers.

In reply, Headquarters scored 152 for 2. Opener Sanjeev Kohli scored half century. M Gohain claimed both Headquarters’ wickets.

Scores: North East Zone: 151 for 9 (RM Gohain 28, Jagjit Singh 28, Dhrubaj Singh 28, D Roy 40, Bal Krishan 3 for 32, S Chopra 4 for 30). Headquarters: 152 for 2 (Sanjeev Kohli 50, Ajay Madan 38, Ajay Arora 36 not out, Ashwani 10 not out, M Gohain 2 for 34).
