MUMBAI, MARCH 6: Eight suspects have been detained in connection with the attempt on the life of former mayor of Mumbai Milind Vaidya after sleuths of the Crime Branch raided hideouts in Thane district on Saturday morning.
According to sources, the teams were split up in 20 groups and combing operations were carried out in and around the townships of Mumbra, Diva, Wada and Virar. It is still not clear whether the suspects are affiliated to a particular gang or they have been picked up on the basis of their dubious backgrounds. Unidentified gunmen killed three of Vaidya’s friends in a shootout outside his residence at Mahim on Thursday night.
