PUNE, Jan 18: In a rare strict order, additional sessions judge S S Phansalkar Joshi has sentenced Kailash Dyaneshwar Kamble, to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000 for raping a 14-year-old girl.

Kamble is a resident of Raj Nagar, Otta Scheme, Nigdi.

According to additional public prosecutor S M Kalbhor the incident took place on February 12 last year.

The girl was staying with her mother and sister in Indira Nagar. All three were working as maid servants in the locality. On the day of the incident the girl was returning form work around 1 pm when Kamble invited her to his room “to talk to her about something.”

Once in his room, he told the girl that he was in love with her and wanted to marry her. Despite her reluctance, he raped her.

The girl’s mother, after being informed by a neighbour that the girl had accompanied Kamble to his house, went there only to find her daughter coming out of the house weeping.

The girl narrated the incident to her mother who immediately filed a complaint at the Nigdi police station. The girl was sent for a medical examination to Sassoon Hospital where it was established that she had undergone a sexual experience.

During the proscecution, the age of the girl was established from the date of birth register of a corporation school where she had studied till a few years back and the conviction came about.
