The All India Unemployed Engineers Federation (AIUEF) has complained to the Minister of Communications regarding the irregularities in the recruitment procedures of C-DOT, the research and development (R&D) organisation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

AIUEF members have stated that recruitment for the post of research engineers required candidates to apply by June 3 while the examination was scheduled for June 6 — within a gap of three days within which period candidates all over India had to be informed to appear for the examination. The release states that only applicants expected to aggregate 70 per cent in all the four yearly/semester examinations are eligible to apply.

The AIUEF has requested C-DOT to implement a decision regarding eligibility to apply for the post of Research Engineer, taken in 2000, as per a decision of the board that the first 10 rank holders of any university, who have secured above 60 per cent marks in aggregate in the qualifying degree will also be eligible to apply.

The federation members have requested the implementation of the above decision within seven days as the last date of receiving applications is June 3, 2003, and examinations begin on June 6.
