VADODARA, Feb 15: The Exim Club has organised a seminar entitled Call of Central Asia’ to be held in Ahmedabad and Vadodara on February 25 and 26, respectively. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ilhom T Nemtov, Ambassador of Turkeministan Ashir Ataev and the Economic Consul of Kazakhastan Karl E Sarsenov will address the seminar.
“As Indian exports during the year have shown a negative growth and imports are, by contrast, substantially rising, an opportunity to explore new markets is likely to prove a shot in the arm for the exim community of Gujarat,” Exim Club president Sharad Mody stated on Saturday.
He added that the republics, which were part of erstwhile Soviet Union, could offer substantive opportunities for export to and import from India as well as joint venture; “as our technology is likely to more appropriate for absorption in these countries”.
While pharmaceutical exports and some joint-venture projects by well-known companies in Gujarat had been successfully operating in the regions, there was a scope for rapid expansion of exports and imports, Modi stated.
