The EC, flooded with calls every day from TV channels asking for opinion on the exit polls, on Tuesday decided to call a meeting of all political parties on April 6 to discuss the issue. Just about every party has written to the commission, either opposing or supporting the exit/opinion polls. Asked why the EC had earlier withdrawn its reference to the Supreme Court, spokesperson A.N. Jha evaded a direct reply, saying: ‘‘It will be based on the consensus, if anything has to be done.’’
