SOLAPUR,Jan 15: Former vice chancellor of Shivaji University K Bhogishyana has expressed deep anguish over the strike by the junior college teachers. He has called upon the teachers and the government to reach an agreement with mutual understanding for students’ sake.

Talking to The Indian Express here on Friday, Bhogishiyana, said the unmoving stand have put the parents and the students in the lurch. He said the Government should accept the demands of teachers for which senior BJP-man and chairman of the State Legislative Council N S Pharande has given a nod. The Government must behave in a sensible manner and must arrive at some formula to cope up with the situation, he said. He added that any assurances by the Government will not rope in the striking teachers. The demands should be handled sympathetically and in a justified manner.

Bhogishayana also called upon the teachers to soften their stand to save the fate of lakhs of students. “If I was there, then I would prefer to protest and agitate by being present in the colleges,"he said. He opined that the students, the education system and examinations should not be paralysed by the strikes.
