Despite negative factors like the Iraq war and SARS, India’s exports grew by 8.71 per cent to $4.34 billion in the first month of the current fiscal.

Imports jumped 39.44 per cent to $5.86 billion in April 2003, an official release stated. According to provisional foreign trade data, trade deficit for April 2003 was estimated at $1.52 billion, higher than the deficit of $212.55 million in the same month last year.
