• With Teesta Setalvad of Citizens for Justice & Peace openly criticising Tavleen Singh, it’s time The Indian Express asked her to write her column on issues not relating to communalism (‘The communalism divide’, Nov 21). Singh’s credibility as a good columnist has always been in doubt but her indicting expression of thought suits the style of the newspaper well. So far it’s ok. But her singling out one of the most respected organisations is an example of her biased and motivated writings. In the past also, she has tried to tarnish the entire Muslim community. Sometimes she talks like Narendra Modi, so it’s better that she doesn’t write on such issues on which she doesn’t carry any conviction or credibility.Pranav Sachdeva• This refers to Tavleen Singh’s column ‘Summing up your words, Mr CM, slum it’ (Nov 28). I endorse her assessment of the working of our politicians and political parties, whether in or out of power. But what surprises me is that for her genuine and rightful castigation of these so-called leaders (servants) of the masses, she has singled out only Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. One would like to know whether politicians in other parts of the country are any different from those in Maharashtra. Tavleen Singh has been uncharitable to politicians in other parts of the country by giving credit only to Deshmukh for keeping the masses under the speel of his political opium.Ved Guliani• Refer to ‘Oh Brother!’ (Nov 28). I would say there is nothing wrong in the Mukesh-Anil Ambani rift coming out in the open. Sooner or later, this had to happen; two brothers cannot run the same business together for ever. It is better the earlier they split or parents should divide their business while they are alive or by will.M Kumar
