The Azad Maidan police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Governor Mohammed Fazal’s controversial Aide-de-Camp (ADC) Deepak Pandey on a complaint of dowry harassment and assault by IAS officer-wife Nidhi on Saturday.Fearing arrest, the ADC moved the Sessions Court this afternoon and was granted interim bail for 12 days. He is currently on a month’s leave. Judge K.V. Chadival asked Pandey to report to Azad Maidan police station on November 8 and 15. The case comes up for hearing after the Diwali vacation on November 17. The bail stands cancelled if Pandey fails to register himself at the police station on the required days. On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil had asked Mumbai police to treat a letter written by Nidhi as an FIR. In a letter to Director General of Police K.K. Kashyap on October 6, Nidhi Pandey alleged that Deepak had assaulted her. After no action was taken, half a dozen women IAS officers from Mantralaya went to the DGP’s office.
