NEW DELHI, October 12: A double hat-trick by Saba Anjum in Government High School, Durg’s 9-0 win over Modern School (Vasant Vihar) and a four-goal effort, including a hat-trick by Ejren Dadel for Birsamunda Vidyapitha (Rourkela) against Durtland T G High School (Mizoram) were the highlights of another day of one-sided encounters in the fifth Nehru girls hockey tournament at National Stadium here today.

In two other matches scheduled for the day, Government Girls High School from Ranchi drubbed Rosary High School (Gujarat) 18-0, S G N P Girls High School (Shahabad) humbled St Xavier’s High School (Goa) 14-0 and Government Girls Senior Secondary School (Ghuman Hera) downed Government Girls Senior Secondary School (Chandigarh) 8-0.

Saba Anjum scored eight goals in all for the Durg team against Modern School (Vasant Vihar), starting with the team’s first goal in the very first minute. Two of her goals were off penalty strokes while one was a penalty corner conversion. Namita Nawghare completed the tally.

Ejren Dadel scored four goals for Birsamunda while Sukanti Pradhan (2), Jasinta Toppo, Fuljencia Kujur, Fulmani Xalxo and sarita Lakra were the other goal-getters against the Mizoram team.

Jyoti Soreng (5), Amrita Minj (4), Filmonia (2), Hemrum (3), Pushpa (2), Sumita and masira Surin were the scorers in the Ranchi team’s thumping 18-0 win over Rosary High School (Gujarat).
